The antidote to our pride is not shame, but humility.
You are guilty of sin. This awareness is not given you so that you would live forever in the darkeness of your own inadequacy. Rather, your failed state serves to show you your need for Christ, who is sufficient, and who despite knowing no sin, became sin, for your and my undeserving sake.
Therfore, do not remain in the dark. Repent and trust that God is better than you, your sins and the world’s solutions. Know that you cannot carry on without him, and praise him for having brought you low enough to let you see again that in your weakness, he is still strong.
Consider that a child does not hang their head when they watch their father outperform them. They marvel at their father’s strength, and invite others to see it also. In a similar way, we would be wise to dwell on the gloriousness of our Father more than we dwell on what we have done, whether for good or for evil. Who can maintain well their pride when busy knowing and showing the wonders of their father?
